George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley said that New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg is former President Donald Trump’s “best lawyer,” prompting immediate laughter from “Fox & Friends” co-host Charlie Hurt.

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments Thursday regarding Trump’s claim that he holds “absolute immunity” from criminal prosecution based on the actions he took as president. Trump was unable to attend the oral arguments because he had to attend his Manhattan trial on alleged falsified business records relating to a payment for a nondisclosure agreement with former porn star Stormy Daniels.

Turley suggested that Bragg’s charges against the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee will bolster his case to the nine justices.

“The interesting thing about today’s Supreme Court decision is, and the Manhattan case is, that Alvin Bragg is probably the best lawyer Donald Trump has right now,” Turley began to the immediate laughter of Hurt.

“He’s making the case to the Supreme Court that there needs to be immunity protection because he’s the problem,” Turley continued. “This is exactly what the court was worried about. You’ve got these Democratic district attorneys clearly politicizing the criminal justice system. The Manhattan case is legally absurd, and it’s occurring on the very day that the court is considering how to protect presidents. That case cannot but help former President Trump.” (RELATED: ‘USA’ Chants Erupt As Trump Makes Campaign Stop With Union Workers)

“And you’re even able to say that as a Democrat, right? You still consider yourself a Democrat,” Fox News co-anchor Ainsley Earhardt asked.

“Right. Right. And the funny thing is in the contempt proceedings, one of the things that, uh, the former President is being accused of is citing one of my columns. It’s uh, I’m used to expressing contempt in the business,” Turley remarked as Fox News co-hosts burst into laughter again.
